The stories behind the wine houses

Champagne

Baron Dauvergne, Grand Cru since 1895

Our champagne comes from Baron Dauvergne in Bouzy, in the Montagne de Reims, founded in 1703. Only 17 of the three hundred villages in Champagne may add Grand Cru to their origin; Baron Dauvergne has been in that classification since 1895.

Our list features their showpiece, the Grand Cru Brut ‘Tour Eiffel’: aged for four years in the bottle, in a bottle decorated with the Eiffel Tower that you may take home.

Maastricht

Apostelhoeve, wine from the Louwberg

An expressive white wine from one of the oldest wine estates in the Netherlands, on the sunny slopes of the Louwberg near Maastricht. Chalky soil and a microclimate of its own. Ripe apple and pear, hints of citrus, an attractive minerality and a long, fresh finish.

Veneto

Monte Tondo: three wines, one house

From the Monte Tondo wine house we pour the Pinot Grigio, the Valpolicella Ripasso and the Amarone.

The Ripasso has a lovely origin story: a winemaker thought it a shame to throw away the lightly pressed Amarone grapes, as they still held plenty of juice and tannin. He gave them a second fermentation, and so this now very popular wine was born.
